Cousin Brayden
Graycen
(and I) had a wonderful weekend – we had a visit from Grandma, Auntie Amy and
cousin Brayden. We were able to enjoy the wonderful sunshine weather this weekend with an outing to Bothell's very adorable Country Village to feed the ducks and do a little shopping.
He was a little nervous about holding her at first, but by the end of the visit was holding her on his own (without a pillow).
I
was a little worried that Brayden, who had been anxiously awaiting the arrival
of his cousin, wouldn’t be as excited to meet her once he figured out that
babies can’t do a lot. But, I was
wrong!!! He instantly fell in love with
his cousin, and referred to himself as her “big brother” multiple times. Graycen was just as quick to return the love. She was so calm and content when Brayden was near.
Brayden was such a helper during his visit. He helped me change diapers, by taking the diapers from the drawer and opening the Diaper Genie lid when we were ready to get rid of the diaper.
He helped entertain Graycen while on her activity mat – he shook the rattle, and showed her all of the toys in her toy bin.
Although he was willing to play with her newborn toys this time, he was adament that he would not play princesses with her -Spiderman or Iron man, only.

1 Month Old!
It’s hard to believe that a month ago we were bringing Graycen home for the first time. Wow…what a month!
Going Home - 2/17/2012
This has been an incredible month – we love our little angel!!!!
At 1 month old, Graycen is…
· 18.5 inches long
· 7 lbs 10oz
· holding her head up to look around the room, at mom and dad, the TV, the
dogs
· spends much more time “awake” during the morning and evening
· liking her playtime
· sleeping 3-5 hours at a time, at night

3 weeks and some days!
Really???....almost a month old? Where does the time go?
Well, our "vacation" is over - Garrett went back to work today, which means I am now a stay at home mom for the next two and half months. Graycen and I managed fairly well; the dogs, however, were a little neglected today. Hendrix doesn't seem to mind the alone time , but Halen has been pouting and sulking all day. I think he is suffering from post-partum depression :)
Graycen had another doctor's appointment today to check her weight. At our last appointment she had gained an ounce and was above her birth weight, but over the last week and a half, she has lost .5 lbs weighing in at 5 lbs 2 oz. She had been throwing up this weekend, so the doctor decided to send us to Children's Hospital for an ultrasound just to make sure that her stomach, etc. wasn't blocked. Thankfully, the ultrasound was fine.
Graycen also had her bilirubin levels checked again today, and it looks like she hasn't really gotten over the jaundice. So, we are doing a 2 day formula only diet - no breast milk - to see if her bilirubin levels will drop. The formula regime seems to bother me (my baby has to eat powdery fake milk from a can) more than it bothers her - she is taking the bottle and formula just fine. Thankfully, she takes after Garrett and will eat anything.
